Belarusian softwood lumber exports increased
Belarusian exports of softwood lumber increased by 31% to 1.039m m³ during the first nine months of 2016 in comparison with the same period of the previous year.

The Ukrainian State forestry agency is involved into negotiations with the representatives of the forestry government authorities in Germany and Austria on cooperation in the field of forestry. The relevant meeting took place in mid-November between Acting Chairman of the State Forest Resources Agency Christine Yushkevich and director of the Committee of Eastern European Economic Relations Michael Harms (Federal Republic of Germany) and the representative of the Environmental Protection Agency Michael Sutter (Republic of Austria) on cooperation in the field of forestry.

More than 50% of the officially employed people in the forestry sector are in Asia. 2.8 working places in the field of primary processing account for one working place in the field of forestry management. Every fourth employee in the formal forestry sector is a woman.
In 2017 LLC “Tehkom AV” is launching the production of edged ash board in accordance with GOST 2695-83 (state standard) and international standards, as well as according to clients’ requirements.

European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström hopes that the Ukrainian government will cancel the moratorium on timber exports. She said this at a meeting with journalists at the beginning of October 2016.
Building starts in Japanese wooden-structured residential building in the first six months showed growth of 6.8% to 251,662 units.
Finnish exports of rough-sawn and planed softwood lumber to non-EU countries increased by 14% in the second quarter vis à vis the comparative quarter of the preceding year to 1.543m m³. As a proportion of exports overall, this figure thus increased by one percentage point to 64%.
