Felling volumes in Finland are much higher than in 2017
An increase in felling activity in the beginning of 2018 comparing to 2017, is happening due to the growth of log prices in Finland.
According to the figures from the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), January increase was 1.2 % and February – 1.1 % in comparison with the same month of 2017 (at 6.340m m³).
Apart from higher prices, a catch-up effect is also one of the reasons for the growth in volumes in some regions, especially since felling had occasionally been limited by the weather in the fourth quarter of 2017, particularly in the south of the country.
