Exports of sawn softwood in Latvia is decreasing
In the second quarter of 2018, Latvian producers exported 762,900 m³ of sawn and planed softwood lumber; this means a minus of 2 % in comparison with the same period of the preceding year. Obviously, the decline of 15 % noticed in the first quarter has weakened.
Analyzing the first half of 2018, Latvian producers exported 1.366m m³ of sawn softwood lumber worth €291.2m. While the export volume fell by 8 %, the export value remained stable. Among others, deliveries to Great Britain (-7% to 482,000 m³), Estonia (-15% to 123,900 m³), South Korea (-12% to 74,700 m³) and Germany (-27% to 60,800 m³) fell down. Exports to the Netherlands were a bit higher than in the previous year (at 77,400 m³).
