German pellet production grew by around 8%
A volume of 802,000t of pellets was produced in Germany in the first quarter. It was also registered that production was 8.2% higher than in the previous year.
In accordance with the survey made by the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV) 98.6% of the total production volume were A1 products. 21.7% constituted bagged pellets. The export rate reached 14.3%. The proportion of industrial products was registered at 1.4%, which was a bit lower; the average for 2020 had been 2.6%. As for pellet production, sawmilling residues constituted 87.5%; the industrial timber proportion (12.5%) was left at an above-average level because of the volume of damaged wood.
