Russian Lumber Market 2016

Export prices in Russia were quite stable in 2016 with only slight increases during the autumn.

The WRQ reports that thanks to the weak Ruble the prices continue to be at their lowest levels in over ten years in US dollar terms. Such very competitive prices for Russian softwood lumber in the export market have mainly caused higher production in the sawmilling sector in Siberia; however, exportation of lumber from Northwestern Russia to the European market has fallen greatly over the past decade.
