Decrease in imports of softwood logs in Germany

Imports of industrial softwood and sawlogs in the third quarter in Germany declined by 17% to 1.721m m³.

The Federal German Statistics Agency reports that imports of softwood logs are down by one fifth to 934,255 m³. The decrease is partly caused by the considerably reduced imports from Norway to 40,000 m³, which is only 18% of those seen in the previous year. Moreover, imports from Poland (-37%), Belgium (-14%) and Denmark (-29%) also showed decline. Deliveries of industrial softwood dropped by 13% to 786,462 m³. Roughly 15% fewer imports from the Czech Republic and Estonia were only partially compensated for by increased imports from Poland (+10%) and Latvia (+13%).
