Belarusian softwood lumber exports increased

Belarusian exports of softwood lumber increased by 31% to 1.039m m³ during the first nine months of 2016 in comparison with the same period of the previous year.

According to Belstat, 982,000m³ of this volume was delivered to EU countries, corresponding to an increase of 39%. Exports to Germany, which is the most important sales market for Belarus by far, increased by 26% to 277,000m³. Exports to Lithuania and Latvia increased by 43% to 197,000m³ and 51% to 177,000m³ respectively. Deliveries to Belgium increased by 17% to 79,000m³ compared to the previous year. Exports to CIS countries, in contrast, decreased almost by 30% to 50,000m³. The value of exported softwood lumber rose by 22% to an equivalent of US$116.2m.
